Vega is an impact crater on the southeastern edge of the lunar front , southeast of Furnerius crater and west of Oken . The crater is heavily eroded and the edge is superimposed several times by secondary craters.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Slovenian mathematician Georg von Vega .
