Parish church of St. Veit in the Jauntal

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Vitus in Jauntal / Št. Vid v Podjuni in the parish Sankt Kanzian am Klopeiner See belongs to the diocese of Gurk within the deanery Eberndorf / Dobrla vas . The church is a listed building.

Building description

The church, first mentioned in 1470, is presumably a Gothic structure that was renewed and extended after a fire in 1760. The church underwent further major changes in the 19th century and in 1896 when the church was extended again. The west facade and the canopy were re -gotized .

Inside, a triumphal arch with a pressed pointed arch on short round pillars connects the flat-roofed nave with the cross-oblong, vaulted choir yoke. The tower is on the north side, the sacristy on the south side.

Facility

The three altars were made by Peter Markovic in 1896. The high altar hides St. Vitus in the central niche , with St. Modestus , his nurse and St. Crescentia at his side ; to the side are Saints Stephen and Mark . The left side altar bears the statue of St. Joseph with the baby Jesus, flanked by the Saints Antonius Eremita and Florian . On the right side altar stands a Madonna and Child, surrounded by her parents Anna and Joachim .

The baptismal font with scenes of the baptism of Christ was created by Thomas Waldner in 1882.

The Way of the Cross in Nazarene style with banners in Slovene was probably painted by Andreas Melchior in 1867.

The bell was cast by V. Gollner in 1830.
