Velbrück Science
Velbrück Wissenschaft is a German publisher based in Weilerswist . The name goes back to the " Haus Velbrück ", a castle in the hamlet of Metternich .
history
It was founded in 1999 by Friedhelm Herborth, previously lecturer for the suhrkamp taschenbuchwissenschaft series at Suhrkamp Verlag for 25 years , and his former Suhrkamp colleague Horst Brühmann, as well as by Thedel von Wallmoden , founder and director of Wallstein Verlag , and Andreas von Stedman, head of Berlin Nicolai Publishing House. In an article in ZEIT about the foundation and the program of the new publishing house, it is said that disputes between Siegfried Unseld and Friedhelm Herborth were the cause of Herborth's migration from Suhrkamp and the founding of the new publishing house: Unseld had the scientific program characterized by “elaborate theory” Want to change more in the direction of a “popular diagnosis of the times” and an “elegant essayism”, which Herborth did not agree with.
