Velké is the Czech word for big .

It is the nickname of numerous places - for example Velké Heraltice (Groß Herrlitz), Velké Karlovice (Karlowitz), Velké Opatovice (Opatowitz), Velké Pavlovice (Groß Paulowitz) and a few dozen other places.

With Velke , Velik .. or similar variations, the word is a common family name in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and partly in Austria.
