Veltrup is a farming community in the Burgsteinfurt district of the city of Steinfurt in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1939 Veltrup was an independent municipality .

geography

Veltrup is an agricultural scattered settlement without a compact village center and is located southwest of the Burgsteinfurt core city. The former municipality of Veltrup had an area of 6.0 km².

history

Veltrup is an old Westphalian farming community . The farmers were first mentioned in the year 890 as "Veliun" in the land registers of the Werden monastery . Since the 19th century formed Veltrup a rural community in the Office Steinfurt of Steinfurt . On April 1, 1939, Sellen was incorporated into what was then Burgsteinfurt, together with the communities of Hollich and Sellen .
