Venø Færgefart was founded in 1958 as a private company to operate the Kleppen - Venø ferry route in the Limfjord . The ferry service operated by Venø Færgefart from the island of Venø to the mainland is the shortest car ferry route in Denmark with a length of 266 m . The journey time is two minutes.

history

In 1958 there were 16 ferry departures.

Struer Kommune and Ringkjøbing Amt jointly took over the ferry company on July 1, 1975. In the following year 1976, 152,059 passengers and 59,181 vehicles were carried on 33,000 ferry trips. On June 1, 2007, Ringkjøbing Amt sold its shares to the municipality of Struer, which now operates the ferry route alone.

In 2011, a 20-minute cycle was introduced during the day. No registration is required for the crossing. Two departures are offered during the night; for a corresponding surcharge, the ferry runs as a special trip on request.

In 2018, 234,244 passengers and 115,764 passenger cars, as well as 4,914 buses and 6,938 bicycles, spread over 38,400 departures, were carried. The fare is generally to be paid cashless. As a result of an increased state subsidy, the fare decreased from May 1, 2019. Residents of Venø can use the ferry for free.

A bus service operated by Midttrafik (Venø bussen, no. 346) runs six times on weekdays and twice on Saturdays and Sundays between the train station in Struer and Venø By .
