Joel M. Reed

Joel M. Reed (born December 29, 1933 in Brooklyn , New York City , † April 14, 2020 in Queens , New York City) was an American director of soft porn and splatter films . His most famous film was Bloodsucking Freaks from 1976.

Life

Reed was born as one of the sons of the record seller Albert Reed and his wife Gertrude Reed, b. Harris, born. After finishing school, he served in the United States Army in the Korean War .

Reed initially worked in advertising, but then became drawn to filmmaking. He started out with soft porn and then turned to horror films. His work as a filmmaker began in the 1960s. He always wrote the script for his films. In addition to his cinematic work, he wrote the 1990 book Trump : the Man the Myth the Scandal . After his last directorial work in the early 1980s, he did not appear again as an actor until 2011.

Joel M. Reed died in hospital in 2020 from complications from a COVID-19 illness.
