Valve (shipment)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ventil was a television show on Swiss television that was broadcast in 74 episodes from 1996 to 2000. It was designed and moderated by Frank Baumann . The show was a satirical media persiflage .

Shipment concept

The viewers were able to call the live broadcast to vent their annoyance about the broadcast as such, the content currently being shown or the program on Swiss television in general. The "Ventilator" (Frank Baumann) wore a gray smock and a striped Bally tie and looked like an official. He sat at his desk and listened to the complaints, but often operated an oversized lever with which he could throw the caller off the line at any time. The moderator was very snappy, defended the view of the television and often berated the callers. The opposite pole to Baumann was the actress Ursula Maria Schmitz , who stood around in the studio as a loyal and inhibited "Frau Weber" and occasionally intervened in the program in a calming, criticizing or praising manner.

At the same time, media content was exaggerated, caricatured and controversial during the broadcast. This should make the viewer aware of the subjectivity of all television content. The lever was the symbol of the media “omnipotence” of television. Examples of controversial content were a competition in "Weitpissen", the tattoo of the Ticino singer Nella Martinetti , the meeting of the sect leader Uriella with the porn actress Laetitia Zappa or even nude appearances by various contemporaries.

The broadcast was mostly recorded in Studio 2 of the SRF Studios in Zurich-Leutschenbach and broadcast live.

reception

The show met with anger and criticism from a large number of viewers, but it had cult status , especially among younger viewers .

Awards

In 1999, at the “ Rose d'Or ” awards ceremony, the show received a commendation in the humor category (Special Mentions).
