Frank Baumann (born August 28, 1957 in Zurich ) is a Swiss advertising specialist , radio and television presenter , television producer , director , photographer and bestselling author. Together with his wife Gabriella Baumann-von Arx , he runs Wörterseh GmbH .

Professional background

His radio career began with the graduate of a commercial high school and cartoonist at what was then the “ pirate stationRadio 24 . After a three-year interlude with Swiss Radio DRS , he returned to Radio 24 for four years. He then worked as a director at Condor Commercials for renowned companies and received international awards for his advertising films. In 1989 he founded his own advertising company, Edelweiss AG .

He began his television career in 1996 with what was then SF DRS with the program Ventil , which was supposedly conceived as a viewer complaint show , but was actually a largely improvised media persiflage , with the presenter as the cliché figure of the “arrogant Zürcher”. The show caused a sensation in Switzerland and polarized the audience, Baumann received death threats and was assaulted. In 1999, the show received a "Special Mention" at the Rose d'Or TV Festival . In addition, Frank Baumann presented the program Superhirn on Sat.1 in 1996/97 .

In the summer of 2000, Baumann discontinued Ventil himself after 74 episodes, which is unique in the history of Swiss television. Baumann became the presenter of the Endemol quiz programs Streetlive and Doppelmoppel . The latter broadcast was based on the family duel ; however, the candidates were at the mercy of the moderator when collecting points. The spontaneous quiz show Streetlive , which took place outdoors , in which candidates had to place a bet, where wrong answers either destroyed a deposit or put the candidate in an awkward position, once again caused a sensation in Switzerland and Frank Baumann was again the target of attacks. Although Streetlive was very successful, Frank Baumann wanted to quit after over 300 episodes. His follow-up show Doppelmoppel was taken out of the program by then program director Adrian Marthaler after 200 episodes for planning reasons.

In the following years Frank Baumann performed solo programs on cabaret theaters in Switzerland and German-speaking countries, together with his dog "Bostitch", who was known to the Swiss public from Ventilation . He has been running the Arosa Humor Festival since 2008 .

From January 2006 to the end of 2007 he moderated the Swiss version of the Endemol program Genial besides ; Michael Mittermeier , Patrick Frey , Viktor Giacobbo , René Rindlisbacher , Beat Schlatter and Nadja Sieger were among his guests . In 2008, ZDF and 3sat ran his “Not talk showEin Fisch für 2 ; she was nominated for the Adolf Grimme Prize 2009. On SF 1 in the summer of 2009 he spoke to twelve people between 79 and 94 years of age with Das voll Leben ; Among them were - shortly before his death - the writers Hugo Loetscher and Emilie Lieberherr . In 2011, the big expedition “Grüezi Deutschland” with Frank Baumann ran on Swiss television and on 3sat.

In August 2011, he recorded the song Guugel Muugel , which was published for the Federal Council election on December 14, 2011, together with the “Gesamtbundesrat” (the musicians Barbara Risch, Robert Morgenthaler and Nico Schläpfer belong to this band ) .
