Federal administration

The Ver.di federal administration is the headquarters of the ver.di union . It is located together with the federal executive board in a new building in the Berlin-Mitte district ( Mitte district ) on the border with Berlin-Kreuzberg . The building complex, completed in 2004, is located at Paula-Thiede-Ufer 10 (main entrance) and Bona-Peiser-Weg. The streets are named after the unionist Paula Thiede and the librarian Bona Peiser .

A monotype was created by Paula Thiede by the Bielefeld artist Pedda Borowski and exhibited in the entrance hall.

ver.di Berlin-Brandenburg

The foundation stone for the building, which was constructed according to a design by architects Michael Kny and Thomas Weber as the first construction phase of the Spreeport as part of the Mediaspree investor project , took place on November 28, 2002. It is 154 m long, 65 m wide and 35 m high and is structured Building complex with 47,800 m² gross floor area above ground . The facade consists of glass, steel and red clinker bricks. The building was built on the former site of the wall east of the historic ice cream factory . The federal executive board was able to move into the Spreeport in July 2004. Immediately to the south, on Köpenicker Strasse, is the ver.di-Berlin-Brandenburg building complex. The building can be reached via a jetty on the Spree. The main entrance is via a 23 m high atrium, through which a public bookshop, also with an assortment of the Gutenberg Book Guild , can be reached. The great hall has 206 seats.
