Association of Antiquaries in Austria

The Association of Antiquaries in Austria ( VAÖ ) is a book trade association founded in 1949 and based in Vienna .

history

The association was founded as an association of antiquarians in Austria and took on its current name in 1959. Currently (as of 2014) 37 antiquarian bookshops are affiliated with it, dealing in antiquarian books, magazines, graphics, autographs, manuscripts and music as well as rarities . Its seat is in the Palais Fürstenberg in downtown Vienna .

The publication organ has been the Anzeiger des Verband der Antiquare Österreichs Österreichs since 1950 .

Code of Ethics

The members of the Association of Antiquarian Booksellers in Austria voluntarily commit themselves to professional and serious trading in accordance with the guidelines of the Code of Ethics . Among other things, they guarantee the authenticity of their goods, reasonable pricing and a precise description of the objects on offer.

Since the founding of the Association of Antiquarian Booksellers Austria in 1949, the following members have been chairmen of the association:

According to the statutes of the association, the board is re-elected every three years.

Memberships

As a professional association, the VAÖ is a member of the main association of the Austrian book trade and is national representative in the global umbrella organization Internationale Liga der Antiquare (ILAB).

Activities, fairs

The association conducts training seminars in the field of rare books. It has been represented in its own section at the start of the Austrian book fair BUCH WIEN since 2008 .
