The consumer portal vis.bayern.de , which was created in 2001, is an internet-based information system operated as a joint project by several Bavarian ministries. It is used to inform the population primarily by experts from the Free State of Bavaria, supported and supplemented by consumer associations. Information about the pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages, dangers and protective measures should enable the individual to make self-determined decisions as a consumer. Apart from the connection costs, it is free to use.

There are currently (as of the beginning of 2020) over 700 information articles and checklists in seven topic sections. They are supplemented by daily updates in the following areas of consumer protection.

  • Nutrition and food safety : The rubric deals e.g. B. with questions about nutrition and illness, E-numbers, energy drinks, smoothies, vegetarian and vegan nutrition.
  • Product safety and chemicals : This section provides information on product properties, quality standards and product labeling.
  • Markt und Recht provides information on rights in everyday consumption and protection against unfair business methods.
  • Finance and Insurance covers topics such as insurance, investing money, taking out loans, and making provisions for old age.
  • Data and media provides information on the topics of mobile surfing, shopping online, uploading pictures or listening to music.
  • Energy : The column deals with electricity and gas prices, smart grids, energy efficiency classes, the passive house, tips for saving.
  • Sustainable consumption : Questions about the production process, working conditions, ecological consequences, regionality and sustainability in the household are answered here.

Contributors

The VIS Bayern is filled in terms of content via a network of state authorities from Bavaria together with partners. Several Bavarian ministries are involved, because the topic of consumer protection is also very broad. Since October 2013, the publisher has been with the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection , with technical support from the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests , the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy , the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, Sport and Integration and the Bavarian State Ministry State Ministry of Justice .

The Bavarian Consumer Center and the Bavarian Consumer Service in the Catholic German Women's Association are partners of the Bavarian consumer portal because they ensure individual advice to citizens with state funding. There are also collaborations with the Bavarian State Center for New Media and the Consumer Initiative e. V.
