Verde Island is an island in the Batangas Province in the Philippines .

This is located off the coast of the island of Luzon , approx. 8 kilometers south of the city of Batangas City , almost in the middle of the most traveled shipping route in the Philippines, the Isla Verde Strait . On the island are the Barangays , Liponpon, San Agapito, San Agustin East, San Agustin West, San Andres and San Antonio. They have a population of 6699 as of the 2007 census. The largest town is San Antonio in the center and southwest of the island, with 1420 inhabitants. The island is administered by the city of Batangas City.

Verde Island is best known among scuba divers as it is located in a biodiversity hot spot in the Philippines . The highest point on the island is the approximately 300  m high Liponpon Peak . It was named after Captain Juan Verde, who subjugated the Batangas region for the Spanish crown in the 16th century. At that time, the region was given the name Balayan de Kumintang.

The crossing from Batangas City takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
