Medal of Merit of the Forestry of the German Democratic Republic

The Forestry Merit Medal of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded on December 13, 1984 by the Council of Ministers of the GDR by its chairman Willi Stoph and the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Food Management Bruno Lietz in three levels, bronze , silver and gold was donated. The award was made in recognition of outstanding achievements in forestry over many years. Especially for:

  • active and selfless commitment in forestry,
  • exemplary work,
  • exemplary results in the socialist competition to supply the industry with raw resin,
  • for the utilization of the raw material wood,
  • Production of consumer goods,
  • for the protection and reproduction of forest stands and
  • for many years of service in fulfilling the tasks of forestry.

Appearance and wearing style

The bronze, silver-plated or gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows on its obverse the raised embossed five-line inscription: FOR / MERIT / IN DER FORST- / WIRTSCHAFT / DER DDR , which consists of two open oak leaves that are crossed at the bottom and bent upwards is enclosed, which show two acorns on both sides at their crossing point. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, showed the GDR's national coat of arms. The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a rectangular, brown-covered clasp, in the middle of which, depending on the level awarded, one, two or three vertical light green central stripes were woven. The interim brace is of the same quality.
