The Association for Family Studies in Baden-Württemberg eV was founded on October 14, 1920 as the Association for Wuerttemberg Family Studies in Stuttgart . From 1947 to 2015 it was called the Association for Family and Heraldry in Württemberg and Baden e. V. , the current club name has been in effect since mid-2015.

Club activity

The purpose of the association is to awaken and enliven the sense of genealogy and heraldry and, in particular, to promote and cultivate family history in all its branches. For this purpose, an office with an extensive library , in which journals and source works from other German regions as well as from Austria and Switzerland are available, and an archive is maintained. The association is a member of the German Working Group on Genealogical Associations (DAGV).

The events, since 1951 the genealogical working groups, since 2001 a mailing list and since 2017 the presence on Facebook serve for the communication of the association members among themselves .

Publications

The association has published the genealogical journal Südwestdeutsche Blätter for family history and heraldry once a year since 1921 . A newsletter appears three times a year with information from the association.

Further publications, such as the series of non-residents in church registers from Baden-Württemberg, are issued at irregular intervals .
