Association of friends of antiquity in the Rhineland
The Society of Friends of Antiquity in the Rhineland is a German history society . It was founded in Bonn on October 1, 1841 to investigate medieval art, provincial Roman and prehistoric finds. He has been publishing the Bonn yearbooks since 1842 . Since 1864 he has been purchasing antique objects which he makes available to the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn . The association currently has 800 members (as of December 31, 2013).
The chairman of the association is the professor of ancient history at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , Winfried Schmitz .
