Today's bank is the product of a large number of mergers between local cooperatives, mostly (savings and) loan associations, founded between 1880 and 1930. A process of successive mergers began in the 1950s, the (preliminary) end product of which has been the United Raiffeisenbanken Gräfenberg-Forchheim-Eschenau-Heroldsberg since 2000 .
