The Vereinigung Cockpit eV (VC) is an association for commercial aircraft pilots and flight engineers in Germany with its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main .

The association was founded on March 15, 1969 by a group of pilots around Hans Dieter Gades as a professional association. Until 2000 there was a collective bargaining agreement with the German Employees' Union (DAG). The DAG thus negotiated the tariffs for the pilots organized in the Cockpit Association. After the DAG was absorbed into the ver.di union , the Cockpit Association became independent in terms of collective bargaining and has also been active in a union function since the beginning of 2000.

The association pursues professional and collective bargaining interests. It is recognized by almost all German airlines as a union , i.e. collective bargaining partner for the pilots . In labor law , the Cockpit Association is a typical functional elite .

However, in his working groups he also deals with fundamental issues such as flight safety. For example, it annually assesses German airports in terms of their safety in a list of defects .

The VC is internationally active through its membership in IFALPA , the international umbrella association of pilot organizations, and in the European Cockpit Association (ECA), the European interest group for pilots and flight engineers.

The members of the association are informed about the collective bargaining and professional policy work of the organization through the membership magazine VCinfo .
