The Göttingen Paper Dealers Association was an amalgamation of sellers of paper types and goods and master bookbinders with their own shops . The organization based in Göttingen appeared in particular as a publisher of postcards .

history

The organization, founded in Göttingen in 1907, was an interest group to protect the interests of its members, in particular in order to be able to appear unanimously vis-à-vis “ slinging companies ” and authorities. In addition, the members committed themselves by handwritten signatures not to " sell the products of junk and dirty literature in their shops."

In addition, articles should be found and produced, the production of which in self-production would bring little profit for the individual dealer, but which could bring monetary benefits for all members in uniform and centrally controlled mass production. For this purpose, the publication of postcards - allegedly "invented in Göttingen in 1870" - was offered , for the distribution of which the Association of Göttingen Paper Dealers acted as a publisher and which at the same time successfully advertised the university town of Göttingen itself.
