The Association of Swiss Mill Friends ( French Association Suisse des Amis des Molins , Italian Associazione Svizzera degli Amici di Mulini , Romansh Associazlun Svizra dals Amis dals Mulins abbreviated VSM / ASAM ) is the national mill science association in Switzerland . The association has existed since 2000.

Goals and Activities

The aim of the association is the preservation, care and operation of historical mills in Switzerland as part of the cultural heritage as well as the associated research, information and public relations. The association serves to coordinate the activities of local milling associations nationwide and represents Swiss interests at international level, for example in the International Molinological Society .

The main activities of the association are:

  • The Swiss Milling Day is held annually on the Saturday after ascension
  • Annual excursion for members
  • Organization of a permanent exchange of spare parts for historical mill equipment, machines and devices
  • Creation of a database ("Inventory of Swiss mills") on the mill locations in Switzerland
  • Fund for book projects in the field of historical mills
  • Conducting meetings / seminars

Publications:

  • Publication of the Swiss Mill Guide , updated annually and completed on the aforementioned Swiss Mill Day
  • Half-yearly publication of the newsletter Mühlenbrief
  • Reprint and publication Introduction to Milling. Basics, technology, history and culture of the traditional mills by Berthold Moog, Binningen
