The Association for the Promotion of German Fire Protection e. V. (vfdb) was founded in Stuttgart in 1950 to promote scientific, technical and organizational developments in hazard prevention for more safety in fire protection , technical assistance , environmental protection , rescue services and disaster control . This also includes the specialist areas related to these areas as well as educating the population about protection against such dangers. August Ortloph was the first chairman of the vfdb from 1950 to 1954. Dirk Aschenbrenner has been the director of the Dortmund fire service since 2013 and president of the vfdb.

tasks

The vfdb maintains discussion forums on subject-specific topics, conducts technical and scientific specialist conferences as well as international specialist events. It promotes research and development in the fields of "non-police security ".
