Association for the Promotion of German Fire Protection
The Association for the Promotion of German Fire Protection e. V. (vfdb) was founded in Stuttgart in 1950 to promote scientific, technical and organizational developments in hazard prevention for more safety in fire protection , technical assistance , environmental protection , rescue services and disaster control . This also includes the specialist areas related to these areas as well as educating the population about protection against such dangers. August Ortloph was the first chairman of the vfdb from 1950 to 1954. Dirk Aschenbrenner has been the director of the Dortmund fire service since 2013 and president of the vfdb.
tasks
The vfdb maintains discussion forums on subject-specific topics, conducts technical and scientific specialist conferences as well as international specialist events. It promotes research and development in the fields of "non-police security ".
collaboration
It works together with research and development institutions and the member associations and industry to promote innovative products and processes.
Editions
The vfdb publishes a quarterly technical and scientific journal, its own guidelines, information sheets and recommendations. Some of these documents are made available on the vfdb website.
Grants
It promotes national and international, in particular European, cooperation with all government and private specialist bodies as well as organizations, institutions and associations, security education and awareness-raising, especially among young people.
