from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A constitutional referendum was held on September 4, 1992 in the East African state of Djibouti . The new constitution was supposed to introduce a multi-party system in the country for the first time since independence . A second question to the voters was a regulation that would limit the number of political parties to four. Both proposals were accepted by more than 97.9% of voters, with a turnout of 75.2%. The first multi-party elections then took place in the same year.
