The National Assembly of Djibouti ( French : Assemblée Nationale ) is the only chamber of the parliament of Djibouti . It has 65 members, each elected for five years.
The elections on February 8, 2008 were boycotted by the opposition and all seats went to the ruling coalition Union pour la Majorité Présidentielle (UMP). Nine MPs were women, which corresponded to a share of 13.85%. In the 2013 election to the National Assembly in Djibouti , the UMP received 43 out of 65 seats and in the 2018 election it received 57 seats.
Idriss Arnaoud Ali was President of Parliament from 2003 until his death in 2015.
Parliament building
The seat of the National Assembly is located in the capital Djibouti . The new building replaced the previous building in 2010. The new parliamentary seat was financed entirely by Iran and inaugurated in 2014.
