The Chamber of Deputies of Rwanda (in Kinyarwanda : Umutwe w'Abadepite , in French Chambre des Députés ) is the lower house in the parliamentary bicameral system of Rwanda .

The Chamber of Deputies consists of a total of 80 members, but only 53 are elected by the people in direct elections. A further 24 seats are reserved for women who are nominated by election commissions in the twelve provinces. As a result, there is de facto a women's quota of 30 percent in the Chamber of Deputies. Two MPs are appointed by youth organizations ( National Youth Council ), another MP by a disabled organization ( Federation of the Associations of the Disabled ). The legislative period lasts five years.

Parliamentary chairman has been Donatille Mukabalisa since 2018 .

  • Liberal Party: 5 seats
  • Indirectly appointed members: 27 seats
  • The last elections took place in 2018. The party landscape is dominated by President Paul Kagame's party , the Rwandan Patriotic Front , RPF ( Front Patriotique Rwandais, FPR ). Other parties are allied with the RPF and together form an electoral coalition.
