The National Assembly of the Central African Republic ( French Assemblée Nationale de la République Centrafricaine ) is the legislative body of the Central African Republic . Since the last election in 2016, it has consisted of 140 MPs.

According to the constitution, which has been in force since 2016, there is a two-chamber system, the other chamber is the Senate.

Elections to the National Assembly also took place in 1998, 2005, 2011 and 2016.

National Assembly from 2011 to 2013

The National Assembly from 2011 to 2013, formed after the elections on January 23 and March 27, 2011, had a total of 105 members, elected in 105 single constituencies in two rounds, actually for a five-year term.

The National Convergence "Kwa Na Kwa" was not a political party, but a coalition of political parties that voluntarily supported President François Bozizé .

Former Prime Minister (2003-2005) Célestin Le Roi Gaombalet was the President of this National Assembly. It was dissolved in March 2013.

Parliament building

The parliament building in the capital Bangui was built in cooperation with North Korea and inaugurated on January 1, 1993.
