The People's Representatives ( Spanish Cámara de Representantes del Pueblo ) is the lower house of the Parliament of Equatorial Guinea . The Chamber of Representatives consists of 100 members who are directly elected by the population for five years.

history

The House of Representatives was founded in 1984 under Article 70 of the Constitution of Equatorial Guinea. The MPs meet twice a year in March and September for a maximum of two months. After the constitutional referendum in 2011, the Senate was founded alongside the House of Representatives . On July 12, 2012, both chambers were finally opened for the first time.

elections

The last parliamentary elections took place in 2013. Most of the opposition parties boycotted the election, assuming massive election manipulation by the government. However, election observers from the African Union described the elections as largely free and fair. Of the three parties that stood up, two parties won seats in parliament. Out of 100 MPs, 22 are women, making 22% women.

  • … Have the citizenship of Equatorial Guinea and be at least 25 years old
