The National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo ( Swahili Wabunge wa Jamhuri ya Kidemokrasia ya Congo , French Assemblée nationale de la République démocratique du Congo ) is the lower house in the bicameral system of the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

500 members are elected to the National Assembly for five years each. This took place after the Second Congo War in the 2006 elections and in the 2011 elections . The following election was postponed several times and took place in December 2018 .

The National Assembly has had its seat in Kinshasa since 1997 in the People's Palace ( Palais du peuple ), which was built from 1975.

In 2018, Allianz FCC from former President Joseph Kabila received over 300 of the then 485 seats in a controversial election . In a later list, which included post-election results from March 2019, the distribution of seats by block is given as follows: FCC 341, Lamuka 112, Cap pour le changement 47.

In June 2019, following a court decision, Lamuka was stripped of 21 parliamentary seats and two senatorial seats . All 23 seats were slammed to the FCC.
