National Assembly (Mauritania)
The National Assembly of Mauritania ( French Assemblée nationale de Mauritanie , Arabic الجمعية الوطنية, DMG al-Ǧamʿiyya al-Waṭaniyya ) is the national parliament in the legislative unicameral system of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania .
157 members of parliament are elected for five years each.
The parliament building is located in the capital Nouakchott .

After the military coup on August 3, 2005, the Military Council for Justice and Democracy was the highest state organ in Mauritania. Elections were then held on November 19 and December 3, 2006. With the military coup in Mauritania in 2008 , Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz took power again. The next parliamentary elections, originally scheduled for October 1, 2011, were finally held in November and December 2013.
The last elections so far took place on September 1 and 15, 2018.
