from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vernissage - the magazine for current exhibition events is an Austrian art magazine for fine and applied arts .

content

The Vernissage magazine provides information about exhibitions in museums and galleries in Austria. It also includes art reviews and work reviews, reports on art fairs and symposia, and a legal guide. Individual artists are also presented in more detail in each issue. A current overview of the exhibition concludes the booklet.

Frequency of publication and editorial office

The magazine, which has been published since the beginning of 1981, is published six times a year with a print run of 6,000 copies each by Brod Media GmbH. The editorial and publishing location is Vienna . The magazine is four-colored and has the size 21 × 28.5 cm. The publisher and editor-in-chief is Gerald Brod. In addition to a permanent editorial team to which the curators Eva Maria Bechter and Florian Steininger belong, external experts also write individual articles. “Agit Art”, a picture column by Eugen Plan, appears regularly.

garnish

Since 2005, the Vernissage magazine has been given the 19 cm supplement “art guide - The exhibition panorama” at irregular intervals, an overview of the exhibitions taking place in Austria. This supplement also contained selected exhibitions from neighboring countries. Today this exhibition overview is an integral part of the booklet in the back of the magazine.

History

Initially, the “Vernissage” magazine had no subtitle. From March 1981 the addition was called magazine for the gallery friend , from April 1985 to April 1989 it was called magazine for contemporary art. Since May 1989 it has had the addition: “Magazine for current exhibition events”.

Similarity of names

The Vernissage-Verlag Heidelberg has been publishing a series of art magazines with various subgroups (e.g. "Vernissage Rheinland" and others) since 2000, although the subject area and thus the subtitles of the sub-editions have changed over the years.
