Betrayed and sold - letters from the front

The book betrayed and sold - letters from the front (OT: Will They Ever Trust Us Again? ) Was written by Michael Moore and was published in October 2004. The German-language edition was published by Piper Verlag ( ISBN 3492047351 ). The book is a collection of letters that Moore received on the Iraq war.

The title of the book refers to a quote from Michael Moore, a sentence he uttered in the closing phase of the film Fahrenheit 9/11 . Moore sees the breach of trust in the fact that the soldiers were sent to war because of a lie. In contrast to Moore's other books, he stays in the background with comments, but lets the soldiers speak for themselves through their letters. In terms of content, George Bush is heavily criticized for sending her to war. It also expresses the horror of war, the misery of the Iraqi civilian population, concern for relatives and disillusionment with war and politics.

In his introduction, Moore says, "What makes these comments unique and intense is that they are not words of the left or the anti-war movement - they are words of the war movement."
