Rogoźnica [ rɔgɔˈʑɲiʦa ] (German: Groß Rosen ) is a village in the municipality of Strzegom ( Striegau ) in the Polish Voivodeship of Lower Silesia .
It is halfway between Strzegom and Jawor ( Jauer ), seven kilometers from both cities.
The main occupations of the residents were agriculture and the mining of granite .
Groß Rosen belonged to the district of Schweidnitz . In 1933 there were 1,783 inhabitants in the village; In 1939 there were 1,852.
At the time of National Socialism , in March 1941, the German Reich built the Groß-Rosen concentration camp with its satellite camps on the Jauer – Schweidnitz railway line near the village .
After 1990 the granite quarries of Rogoźnica were closed and declared a memorial because of their importance as a forced labor center for concentration camp prisoners.
