history

In a central, urban location, a five- to six-storey office building for the United Life Insurance Company was built in 1956/57 according to plans by the architects Friedrich Kraemer and Ernst Sieverts (Braunschweig) , which has a further basement on Ansgaritorswallstrasse. Architecturally, the modern, clearly structured building made of concrete and glass and, with its three-dimensional structure of its free-standing, narrow supporting pillars, is a contrast to its flat neighboring houses. A five-storey, flush-fitting part of the building is partially in front of the six / seven-storey main building in the street alignment with the street Am Wall . A stairway leads through an arcade-like lower room to the lower-lying Ansgaritorswallstraße and to beinhauerstraße in the old town.

In 1974 the building received a BDA award. The architecture guide bremen later wrote: "This recess makes a constructive feature all the more effective: the supporting structure of the concrete skeleton placed in front of the facade."

Even today (2014) the buildings are used for office purposes by DAK health and Signal Iduna insurance and shops.
