Vertigo in the amusement park Walibi Belgium in Wavre , Belgium was the first mountain glider suspension system from the manufacturer Input Projektentwicklungs-GmbH, a subsidiary of the cable car manufacturer Doppelmayr . The railway combined properties of roller coaster and cable car , which is why it is categorized as a suspended coaster .

The eight individual chaise longues for four people each in a row were transported to a height of 50 meters by a vertical lift after the station. The wagons did not run on rails like roller coasters, but on a kind of steel cable with square profiles above and below for guidance. The entire 720-meter-long route was suspended from just seven supports. During the journey, the cars changed direction three times and made 137 °, 246 ° and 518 ° turns. The straight stretches in between also had uphill sections. The wagons could swing out sideways as well as fore and aft. Lateral acceleration forces have thus been reduced. The passengers were only held by lap bars in the seats, which are reminiscent of ski lifts.

Unlike most roller coasters with multi-train operation, Vertigo did not use block brakes . The brakes were built into the car itself. The system was controlled via a specially developed radio system in which the cars communicated with the central computer via WLAN .

The original plan was to open Vertigo for the 2006 season. Technical problems delayed the release to the public until June 16, 2007. As technical problems continued to occur that led to breakdowns, the lift was technically revised in the 2007/2008 winter season and officially reopened on May 8, 2008 with a celebration. It had to be closed again on May 19 due to further unexpected technical incidents. The attraction has not been advertised by the park since then. On October 10, 2008, Walibi Belgium officially announced that the facility would be dismantled and removed from the park.
