The administrative community was founded on April 9, 1993. Already on May 1, 1996 Wülfingerode was incorporated into Sollstedt, so that the administrative community now only consisted of two communities. The final dissolution took place on June 3, 1996, when Sollstedt became a fulfilling municipality for Rehungen.
