Board of Directors of Bayerischer Rundfunk
The board of directors is the central decision-making and control body of Bayerischer Rundfunk . The legal basis for its establishment is Article 5 of the Bavarian Broadcasting Act .
tasks
The board of directors has to promote the economic and technical development of broadcasting. According to Art. 10 Bavarian Broadcasting Act, the Board of Directors has the following tasks:
- to conclude the service contract with the director;
- To represent Bayerischer Rundfunk in legal transactions and legal disputes between Bayerischer Rundfunk and the director;
- to supervise the management of the artistic director;
- to review the budget and annual accounts drawn up by the artistic director;
- to publish the approved accounts and the operating report prepared by the artistic director annually;
- to give consent to the conclusion, amendment or cancellation of service contracts, unless the director himself is responsible.
Members
Since the new Bavarian Broadcasting Act came into force on January 1, 2017, the Board of Directors has consisted of seven (instead of the previous six) members, two of whom are so-called "born" members, i.e. members qua office. These are the President of the Bavarian State Parliament and the President of the Bavarian Administrative Court . Another five members are elected by the Broadcasting Council of Bavarian Broadcasting , but may not belong to the Broadcasting Council at the same time.
