The Verwesschloss Lend is located in the municipality of Lend in the Zell am See district of Salzburg (Lend 41).

history

The castle served as the official residence of the mountain and hut administrator of the Salzburg archbishops at the gold and silver smelter in Lend. The building was built around 1600; In its current form with the two corner cores, it dates back to 1748. At that time it was furnished with the so-called prince's rooms, which the archbishops used as accommodation when they visited the mines or the baths in Gastein . Between 1746 and 1762, the mining authority under Anselm Thaddäus Lürzer was housed here, after which the chief administrator or the mountain judge moved in again. Around 1800 the master art master and the mark separator lived here , followed by the manager of the Hohenbalken ironworks.

After 1867 the castle became the seat of the kuk forest and domain administration and, since 1924, the forest administration of the Austrian Federal Forests . In 1976 the building was acquired by the municipality of Lend and is used as a municipal office.

From 1979 to 1981, the building was completely renovated under Mayor August Primig with the architect Franz Reisinger.
