He is involved in the rescue, decontamination, transport, killing and disposal of the animal. The veterinary service also supports the veterinary authorities in combating notifiable animal diseases .

construction

The veterinary service is typically provided by so-called veterinary trains:

Veterinary train according to federal regulations

The veterinary train existed according to STAN no. 071 from 16 emergency services and was divided into two groups and the platoon:

  • Train troop with the following functions ( manning the train troop vehicle and a motorcycle):
    • 1 platoon leader / veterinarian,
    • 1 veterinary assistant,
    • 1 motorcyclist / reporter,
    • 1 driver / radio operator.
  • Slaughter and examination group with the following functions (occupying a truck and the 3 m³ meat transport vehicle, FTW for short):
    • 1 group leader / butcher ,
    • 1 squad leader / meat inspector,
    • 2 veterinary helpers (including another butcher),
    • 2 drivers / butchers.
  • Animal decon and transport group with the following functions (occupying the tank truck for 3000 liters of drinking water and the animal transport truck, TTW for short):
    • 1 group leader,
    • 1 squad leader,
    • 2 veterinary assistants,
    • 2 drivers.

Among the above personnel, the veterinarian and the emergency services of the animal decontamination and transport group had to be qualified as ABC helpers.

These regulations lost their validity with the entry into force of the Law for the Reorganization of Civil Protection (ZSNeuOG) on March 25, 1997. Most of the veterinary trains (with the exception of those listed below) were subsequently disbanded.

Veterinary train according to Baden-Württemberg

The current veterinary trains in Baden-Württemberg are structured as follows:

  • 1 train driver (veterinarian)
  • 1 deputy platoon leader (veterinarian)
  • 18 helpers

A truck is occupied.

Today there are only three veterinary trains as management units in Baden-Württemberg. These are stationed in Freiburg, Schwäbisch Hall and Ravensburg. The veterinary trains are maintained and looked after by the respective districts as the lower disaster control authority. The tasks of the veterinary trains are described in the VwV KatSD .

Veterinary train according to the Saarland

There is also a nationwide veterinary train in Saarland. It is managed as a directing unit for the St. Wendel district. In this respect, it forms the backbone of the specialist service V.
