Vettisfossen is the name of a waterfall in Norway . It is located in Årdal municipality in the southwest of Jotunheimen . Vettisfossen is Norway and Northern Europe's highest unregulated waterfall. From the Vettismorki he has a free fall of 273 m. It is part of the Morka-Koldedøla river system, which has its source in Morka-Koldedalen and runs through the Utladalen as the Utla river .

In Norway, only Mardalsfossen , Ringedalsfossen and Skykkjedalsfossen have a higher free fall.

The Vettisfossen was placed under nature protection in 1924. It is a popular tourist destination; the walk from Hjelle, the nearest town, takes about an hour and a half.
