Alien Productions: Installation "The Thought Projector"
ARS Electronica 2008, Linz

Alien Productions is an international artist group founded in 1997 by Andrea Sodomka, Martin Breindl, Norbert Math and August Black. Her field of activity includes intermedia performances and installations, electronic music, net art, radio art, interactive art and artistic photography. The members of Alien Productions worked together several times before the group was founded under the collective names "Sodomka / Breindl" and "Sodomka / Breindl / Math".

Alien Productions deal with modern urbanity ("alien city"), everyday life ("the well-tempered kitchen") or the world of work ("work patterns", "transmission"). In many projects, modern technologies of mass communication are used, sometimes pioneering, for example in "State of Transition" (by Sodomka / Breindl / Math, X-space et al., 1994), one of the world's first art projects on the World Wide Web , and "Mobile : Home ", an interactive installation for UMTS telephones (2004).

Many interactive installations from the 1990s involve visitors in the artwork using computer-aided biofeedback . Multifunctional sensors measure the user's body data and control sound and image projections in the room in real time. This feedback loop allows the room to be played like an instrument.

The retro-utopian installation "The Thought Projector" was realized for the first time in autumn 2007 in the Künstlerhaus Graz and has since been shown often in festivals and exhibitions: Ars Electronica Festival 2008, Künstlerhaus Wien ("ZeitRaumZeit") 2008, ICC Tokyo ("LightInSight") 2008 .

Alien Productions are curators of FLUSS - Lower Austrian Initiative for Photo and Media Art.
