VfB 90 Dresden
The VfB 90 Dresden (association for movement games 90 Dresden e. V.) was a traditional German sports club based in Dresden . Home of the association was the sports complex Leutewitzer Park in the district Leutewitz the municipality Cotta . Because of the close proximity to the Leutewitz windmill , the VfB athletes were often referred to as windmills , especially before the Second World War .
history
The association was founded in 1888 as TV Jahn Cotta . In 1903 the VTB Dresden (Association for Gymnastics and Ball Sports) was launched. After the First World War, the SG Dresden (game community) was founded from the soccer departments of both clubs . During the entire time of the Weimar Republic, SG, VTB Jahn and VfB competed in the highest and second highest division in football. In 1944 VfB appeared again for a short time nationwide when it was accepted into the Gauliga Sachsen due to the war . After the war ended, SG Cotta took the place of all Cottan clubs. On October 1, 1949, BSG Mechanik Dresden was founded on the former VfB sports grounds at Leutewitzer Park , and in 1951 it was renamed BSG Motor Dresden-Nord . In 1961 the company was renamed BSG Typewriter Works Dresden , which became today's VfB 90 Dresden after the fall of the Wall in 1990 .
