The VfL Poll (officially: Verein für Leibesübungen 1912 Köln rrh . E.V. ) was a sports club from the Cologne district of Poll . The first soccer team played for two years in the highest amateur league in the Middle Rhine region.

history

The association was founded at Easter 1912 by members of the Poller youth association . In 1927 the team reached the promotion round to the then first-class 1st district class Rhine , but was only bottom of the table. After the introduction of the Gauliga Mittelrhein , the bollards made the promotion round several times, but always missed the leap in class. In 1936, Spvgg Andernach was ahead. A year later the TuS Neuendorf prevailed and in 1944 the Sportfreunde Düren came first.

After the end of the war , the Poller Cologne runners-up behind SC Schwarz-Weiß Köln and qualified in 1947 for the newly created Rheinbezirksliga . VfL Poll merged with SV Deutz 05 to form SG Schwarz-Rot Köln . In terms of sport, the league was missed by far, but the team was able to win their home game against the eventual three-time German champions 1. FC Köln with 2-0. After relegation, the merger fell apart and both clubs had to continue playing in the district class in 1949. From this the bollards rose again promptly and marched through in the 1950/51 season in the state league , which at the time formed the highest amateur league on the Middle Rhine.

There the team had to relegate again at the end of the 1951/52 season after VfL lost the playoffs against Germania Zündorf and TuRa Hennef . Three years later, the bollards went down to the district class, from which they never rose again. In 1962, VfL Poll merged with DJK Rheingold Köln-Poll to form VfL Rheingold 1912 Köln-Poll .
