The SV Deutz 05 (officially: Sportvereinigung Deutz 05 eV ) is a sports club from the Deutz district of Cologne . The first men's soccer team was promoted to the fifth-class Mittelrheinliga in 2018 .
history
The club was founded in 1905 as Deutzer FC 05 and took on its current name in 1920. In the 1930s, the Deutzers played in the second-rate district class. In 1948 the SV Deutz 05 merged with the VfL Poll to form SG Schwarz-Rot Köln , which competed in the second-class Rhine district league. Although the black and reds won their home game against 1. FC Köln 2-0, the team was relegated at the end of the season and the SG broke up. In 1949 both parent clubs had to compete in the district class again. In terms of sport, the Deutzers commuted between district class and 2nd district class. In the meantime, the women's team caused a sensation and was promoted to the Mittelrhein Association League in 1980 .
The men's team, on the other hand, received greater media attention when they played a friendly match against FC Bayern Munich at a training camp in La Manga , which was lost 1:23. In 2006, the Deutzer rose for the first time in the state league . After relegations and promotions in the meantime, the sports association was able to establish itself in the state league from 2015 and three years later secured promotion to the Middle Rhine League for the first time.
