The VfL Schneeberg was a sports club in the German Reich , headquartered in today Saxon Schneeberg in the Erzgebirge .
history
As the winner of the 1st district class Erzgebirge , VfL took part for the first time in the promotion round to the district of central Saxony at the end of the 1921/22 season. With 6: 6 points, however, the club only placed third and thus missed promotion. For the 1923/24 season the Gau Erzgebirge was again first class and therefore the club did not need any further promotion. In the very first season , the team had a perfect season with 18: 0 points and secured participation in the finals for the Central German championship. Already in the first round on March 23, 1924 after a 14-1 win at Zwickauer SC, it was over. With 20:12 points, the team was able to position itself as the reigning champions in second place in the next season . However, the team was then placed in the 2nd class of the Gau West Saxony for the following season.
In the Gau West Saxony then succeeded in the 1926/27 season promotion to the first division. With 9:27 points they placed eighth here. With 9:27 points, the club then began relegation to 2nd class at the end of the 1929/30 season . After that, the club should no longer play higher class. At the latest at the end of the Second World War , the association was also dissolved.
