The Via Transport Company Ltd. (Via) was a local cross-service company in the municipal association Essen , Duisburg and Mülheim an der Ruhr .

history

The company was founded on March 24, 2010 and began operations on July 1, 2010. The aim of business operations was the operational merger of the local public transport companies in the three cities. Up to December 31, 2016, EVAG ( Essener Verkehrs-AG ) held a 49% share, DVG ( Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft ) 34% and MVG ( Mülheimer VerkehrsGesellschaft ) 17%. Via was part of the rhein ruhr partner project .

Via had a total of five production sites, four in Essen and one in Mülheim.

The Via Verkehrsgesellschaft and its management were controlled by a twenty-person supervisory board until 2016 , ten of which were elected by the three cities and the other ten by employees in accordance with the provisions of the Co-Determination Act of 1976.

On December 31, 2016, DVG terminated its investment. After the DVG left, EVAG and MVG merged to form Ruhrbahn GmbH .
