Victor "Vic" Niblett (born December 9, 1924 in Frimley , Camberley , † October 1, 2004 in Gillingham ) was an English football player.
Career
Niblett moved up during the Second World War in the first team of Reading FC and came in the seasons 1943/44 to 1945/46 at the side of players like Matt Busby , Tony McPhee and Willie Fagan to a total of 46 appearances in the regional Wartime League . In May 1945 he signed a professional contract with Reading, but came to West Ham United until his departure in June 1950 to only six appearances in the Football League Third Division .
After he remained for a season at the second division West Ham behind Dick Walker without use, he was brought back in August 1951 by Archie Clark to Gillingham FC in the third division. The calm and reliable center runner was at Gillingham until April 1953 when an injury in Bournemouth interrupted a series of 91 league appearances in a row. He was only able to regain his regular seat in October 1954, and in October 1956 he had to end his career because of the consequences of several concussions. Together with John Warshap , Niblett received a farewell game against a British army selection in May 1958.
After his football career , Niblett worked as a groundskeeper in Priestfield and also acted several times as a scout for Gillingham. After retiring from football, he made his living as a real estate agent but remained in Gillingham .
