Vicaria is the 8th of the 30 districts ( Quartieri ) of the southern Italian port city of Naples . It is located directly east of the historic center ( Centro Storico ) and, from a socio-economic perspective, belongs to the poorer center of Naples .
Geography and demography
Vicaria borders the neighboring districts of San Carlo all'Arena , Poggioreale , Zona Industriale and San Lorenzo .
Vicaria is 0.72 square kilometers and had 16,369 inhabitants in 2009.
Places and buildings worth mentioning
Vicaria is a relatively small district and almost completely covered with residential buildings. Worth mentioning are the central square Piazza Nazionale and the Stadio Militare dell'Arenaccia stadium (or: Velodromo Albricci , opened in 1923), in which the SSC Napoli played from 1926 to 1930 , but which is now owned by the military.
