San Carlo all'Arena is the 7th of the 30 districts ( Quartieri ) of the southern Italian port city of Naples . It belongs to the historical center ( Centro Storico ), as well as to its socio-economically medium-rich districts .

Geography and demography

San Carlo all'Arena borders the neighboring districts of Piscinola , Miano , Secondigliano , San Pietro a Patierno , Poggioreale , Vicaria , San Lorenzo , Stella , Arenella and Chiaiano .

San Carlo all'Arena is 7.64 square kilometers and had 68,893 inhabitants in 2009.

Places and buildings worth mentioning

Parco di Capodimonte, Reggia di Capodimonte and Museo di Capodimonte

One of the largest parks in Naples, the Parco di Capodimonte, is located in the San Carlo all'Arena area on the Capodimonte hill . This also includes the former stately palace ( Reggia di Capodimonte ), in which the Museo di Capodimonte with pictures a. a. by Botticelli , Raffael , Titian and Caravaggio . The palace was built by Charles III. from 1738, the architect was Antonio Canevari .

Albergo dei Poveri

In the Piazza Carlo III square . is the monumental Real Albergo dei Poveri (also: Palazzo Fuga ). He was 1750 to 1766 by the architect Ferdinando Fuga and on behalf of Charles III. built. It was meant to house the "poor" of the empire.

Orto Botanico
