Vicente Molina Foix (* 1946 in Elche ) is a Spanish writer, translator, cineast and dramaturge.

biography

He began his literary career with poetry and in 1970 he was included in Castellet's anthology Nueve novísimos poetas españoles , one of the most important publications on Spanish poetry of the twentieth century. In the same year his first novel Museo provincial de los horrores was published , followed by Busto , for which he received the 1973 Barral Prize. Other novels and translations followed, including those of Shakespeare's Hamlet and the Merchant of Venice .

In 1990 he wrote the libretto for the opera El viajero indiscreto by the Spanish composer Luis de Pablo . Since 1985 he has been writing film reviews for El País , Diario 16 and Fotogramas . He stands behind the camera and makes films: Sagitario (2001) with Ángela Molina and Eusebio Poncela and El dios de la Madera with Marissa Paredes (2006). The novel La quincena sovietica was awarded the Premio Heralde 1988 and the Premio Azorin 1983.

Molina Foix stands by his homosexuality and has dealt with this topic in many of his works, especially in the novel La comunión de los atletas and in Los ladrones de niños . In the novel El invitado amargo (2014), which he wrote together with Luis Cremades, both tell their love story in the 80s. The newspaper El País describes the first same-sex marriage in Spain of the Swiss painter Daniel Garbade in mascaraque , for whom he also wrote some texts in catalogs.
