Vicente Segrelles Sacristán (born September 9, 1940 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish cartoonist and author . He is best known in Germany for the comic series El Mercenario , in which a mercenary fights against evil in a world full of mythical creatures . The small scope of Segrelles' work is justified by the fact that all of his drawings are made with oil paints instead of ink .

life and work

Segrelles began his career as an illustrator for magazines, catalogs, instructions for use and advertising campaigns when he illustrated a book for the first time on Homer's work in 1960. In the following years he developed into a renowned book illustrator and graphic artist who created the comic series El Mercenario in 1980 .
