Victor Villiger (born September 1, 1868 in Cham , Switzerland ; † June 10, 1934 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , Germany ) was a Swiss chemist .

Victor Villiger studied at the University of Geneva under Carl Graebe and after completing his diploma and military service moved to Adolf von Baeyer's working group at the University of Munich , with whom he worked for eleven years. In the years 1899 and 1900 he developed the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation together with Baeyer . From 1905, after receiving his doctorate, he worked at BASF , initially with August Bernthsen on thiazine and oxazine dyes and later at the central laboratory.
